Different Types Of Cabling

There are many different types of Cabling available, and they are becoming an increasingly important part of daily life. This is due in part to things like computers, entertainment centers, and the internet. Though most hardware comes with the necessary cables, there are times when you will have to buy them separately. Understanding which is the right one for your needs can make your life a lot easier, especially if the thing that you are trying to get functionality for is time sensitive. For computers and the internet, the two main types of cables are cat5 and cat 6.

The best way to understand the differences between the types of Cabling and bandwidth are to think of them like a highway. When a highway gets too crowded, it slows down. The same is true for cables. When there is too much data, the bandwidth is slower. One way to speed up a highway and accommodate all the traffic is by adding new lanes. The same is true for bandwidth. Increasing it will help to allow it to transfer the data more quickly. in the same way, cat6 cables have more bandwidth than cat5e, and are expected to completely replace them in the future.

So for those that are setting up a network or trying to connect their computer to the internet through the ethernet port, it is recommended that they use category 6 Cabling. There are several good reasons to do this aside from the fact that it allows for increased data transfer. Even if it is perceived that there is not a need for that amount of data transfer, there may very well be in the future. In that type of event, having to replace the cables can be a costly and time consuming project, especially if it involves getting the wires out of the walls.

So if you are looking for Cabling, make it a point to get the highest rated and most efficient. Even if you do not feel like you need it at the time, you will be glad you did should there ever be a need for an upgrade.
